ATTRACTIONS

Dalat’s top attraction is a look at the Bao Dai’s Summer Palace and Crazy House (see south of the center) and saving time for daytrips in the surrounding hills. See the suggested One-Day Planner if time’s short.

Dalat viewDAY TRIPS Dalat’s real beauty comes on treks and canyoning trips or motorbike rides to nearby mountains and waterfalls.

SOUTH OF CENTER A kilometer south of the center, look room-to-room in two very different places: Bao Dai’s Summer Palace and Hang Nga’s ‘Crazy House.’

AROUND XUAN HUONG LAKE Dalat’s main public space is this path-surrounded lake, with a golf course and botanical park facing its north shore.

SOUTH OF THE LAKE Farther south of the lake, French villas lines atmospheric Tran Hung Dao St, and a cable car ride goes over vegetable farms to a pagoda to visit.

KITSCH TRAIL For some reason, Dalat’s become Vietnam’s Capital of Camp — you can’t leave without seeing a little of the tackiness.
