Around Town

West and north of Xuan Huong Lake, Dalat’s split-level center is a little confusing at first, with crooked one-way lanes providing a web around the lower central Dalat Market – reached by Nguyen Thi Minh Khai St from the roundabout facing the lake – and the ‘upper center’ (radiating from a cinema and second market).

The bulk of central sites – including travel agencies and some budget hotels – looms in the upper part; reach it on foot from the steps just to the left (west) of the Dalat Market, or up Le Dai Hanh St, which climbs past cafes to the cinema. Behind the cinema, little Truong Cong Dinh St goes west past several travelers cafes and winds back to Phan Dinh Phung St, where the popular Dreams guesthouse is; also, 3 Thang 2 St goes southwest from the cinema – where you can find more guesthouses and the road to sites like the Bao Dai Villa or Elephant Falls Road.

From the center, head down to the lake roundabout and follow the south end of the lake Tran Quoc Toan St to 3 Thang 4 St (going south away from the water), reaching Tran Hung Dao St at a roundabout – or straight on to the Cable Car road, or on to Datanla Falls.
