There are a few guesthouses about, but the Hon Trem (below) is too good of value not to splurge a little. Fish shacks line the beach before you reach Hon Trem Resort.

Atop a hilly point between Hon Chong’s two curling beaches, the Hon Trem’s 14 seaside bungalows rooms have split-view windows overlooking the ‘son’ of Hon Phu Tu from one, and the sunset from the other – it’s about as impressive as you get in all of the Mekong. But it’s a little haphazardly run. Rooms have AC and TV. Supposedly there’s a pool and tennis court in the works. Don’t consider the older rooms, overpriced at 400,000D. Breakfast at the thatch-roofed restaurant is free.
