The only reason to come here is to catch a boat or plane to Phu Quoc island, or a bus to Ha Tien. Busy, a bit seedy, Rach Gia has the quality of a border town, and it kinda is. Lots of trade goes on here from its port – some of it’s even legal. For visitors, sticking in the compact and walkable center, it can feel like wandering into a stray, rather-modern district of Saigon: stuff to look at, honks to hear – but no where to go.
