Direct bus service connects Saigon’s Pham Ngu Lao district and Mui Ne beach (some claim it’s three hours, but it’s more like four or 4-1/2 hours). Buses leave Saigon at 7.30am or 8am (US$4 to US$5 one way); buses leaving for Saigon or Nha Trang (US$4 or US$5) go around 1.30pm – and they’ll pick you up from your hotel.

An Phu BusesIf you’re going from Saigon, you might as well buy your ticket for a dollar cheaper at AN PHU (tel 062-847-830; www.anphutouristhoian.com; 58 Huynh Thuc Khang St). Other agents – like TNK Brothers – charge a dollar more and you’ll end up on the same bus. Coming in to Mui Ne, the An Phu bus will pass all the hotels and go to Thai Hoa Mui Ne Resort (near the east end of the long beach), where they wait enough time to eat lunch or tempt you to check in, before dropping you off at your hotel on the way out of town. The An Phu office, by the road, rents motorcycles.

There’s also a bus from Mui Ne to Dalat, leaving at 7.30am daily (US$6; 3-1/2 hours).
